300 million Cleartrip’s customers data has been breached
On Monday, The global online travel company, Cleartrip’s data of 300 million customers has been breached according to a mail sent by the firm itself.
The mail states that there has been a security anomaly that entailed illegal and unauthorized access to Cleartrip’s partly internal systems.
They further state that apart from some profile details, no other sensitive data of the customer has been violated.
The letter said
“Dear Customer,
We hope you are well.
This is to inform you that there has been a security anomaly that entailed illegal and unauthorized access to a part of Cleartrip’s internal systems.
We are completely mindful that this would be of concern to you. We would like to assure you that aside from some details which are a part of your profile, no sensitive information pertaining to your Cleartrip account has been compromised as a result of this anomaly in our systems. You can choose to reset your password as a precautionary measure.
As per our protocols, we have immediately intimated the relevant cyber authorities and are taking appropriate legal action and recourse to ensure necessary steps are being taken as per the law.
We regret the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patronage and your continued trust in our brand.”
Earlier in 2017, the company before had also been hacked by a group called Turtle Squad. The hack included the defacement of the website.
Cleartrip operates an online travel aggregator website for booking flights, train tickets, hotel reservations, and activities in India and the Middle East countries. It holds offices across India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
