A motion picture ‘The Lady of Heaven’ triggers protests in UK

Thirty – five years ago, there were protests against Salman Rushdie’s ‘The Satanic Verses’ novel in the United Kingdom.

Huge violence was reported during that protest and now again Britain is under this storm.

This time, the protest is against a British film ‘The Lady of Heaven’ released on June 3.

However, it’s an attempt to narrate the prophet Muhammad’s daughter ‘Fatimah al-Zahra’, casting as a first victim of terrorism.

Many Cinema Houses dragged down this movie after seeing aggressive protesters.

The Administrative producer Malik Shlibak mentioned, ‘people are free to criticise the film, but that the protests have “overstepped boundaries’, to Sky News.

The British cinema company, the world’s second largest Cinema, stopped all screenings of ‘The Lady of Heaven’ in the UK due to the protest.

Many protested online against the same by online petition.

The petition mentions, ‘The film directly disrespects Prophet Muhammad who is depicted by an actor, deeply shocking and disrespectful to the best of creation.

It is also a deeply racist film with all the main negative characters being portrayed by black actors.

Furthermore it also portrays the companions of our Prophet Muhammad in a bad manner, petition added.

However, Vue theatre opted to screen the film at selective venues in London.

But later, many protesters stood against it while shouting ‘Take it down! Take it down! This is a racist film!’

Why are Muslims opposing The Lady of Heaven ?

The Lady of Heaven portrays Prophet Muhammad and Lady Fatima who inspires a child in the movie.

However, Lady Fatima is portrayed using CGI graphics.

This creation in movie caused a rage in Muslims because Islam prohibits any portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad in any art form.

Quran’s chapter 42, 11th Verse says, He is the creator of Heaven and Earth.

He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

The phrase ‘There is nothing like unto him’ refers to Allah, the Prophet Muhammad or his messangers of Islam should not be portrayed in any art form.
