Bandai Namco, a Japanese multinational video game publisher was cyberattacked by the BlackCat ransomware operation, resulting in theft of sensitive data of the company.
The company was attacked on July 3rd where hackers breached the internal systems of the company in Asian regions, other than Japan. The company took certain measures like blocking access to the system to stop the invasion of malware into the systems. Also, the company said that there is a possibility of theft of the customer data related to the Toys and Hobby Business in Asian regions. However, the company is still investigating the cause and scope of damage of the company.
Accordingly, the BlackCat ransomware operation claimed that they have stolen the customer’s data of the company. However, BlackCat has not yet leaked any of the Bandai Namco’s stolen data and has hold off the data release until the company will pay a ransom amount to the hackers.
The company has assured that it will strengthen the security of the systems and will take measures to prevent such cyberattacks in future.
