Exclusive: GhostSec has taken the responsibility for the recent Russian ICS attack with zero causality
GhostSec has taken the responsibility for a recent cyber attack at a Russian power station that swept across parts of Russia with a massive explosion. The attack was on the Gysinoozerskaya Hydro-Power Plant on July 20 due to a huge eruption of fire, which led to an emergency shutdown.
GhostSec has taken full responsibility for the attack on the Industrial Control System of the Russian Federation. The attack is a response to the ongoing Russian aggression on Ukrainian soil. Reportedly the pro-Russian threat group has already compromised several Ukrainian devices with its DDoS attack before invading Ukraine. GhostSec including the Anonymous Collective said in an official statement that they will keep continuing the cyber war against Russia until and unless they back off from Ukrainian soil.

GhostSec exclusively told The Tech Outlook that they have successfully executed the explosion at the Russian Power Station in a response to Russia’s continuous aggression in Ukraine. The leader of the Ghostsec named Sebastian Dante Alexander dedicated the win to the people of war-torn Ukraine and credited his team members for the achievement.
Sebastian Dante Alexander of GhostSec has given an official statement to The Tech Outlook by saying, “A statement on the attack, we would like to say that this attack was carefully performed to lead to 0 casualties while still causing what we desired to the powerplant.”
He also added that they coded the tool named KillBus to use in the attack which targets Modbus devices. KillBus has effectively compromised the Industrial Control System by extracting information to re-write data and use it as a slave device.
GhostSec has further stated that the attacks are reminders that Russia is still invading Ukrainian soil and it will continue unless they are retreating the Russian army from Ukraine.
