Fake Instagram accounts are being opened using Jumbo Covid Centers name
The coronavirus is a type of virus. There are many different kinds, and some of them can spread disease. The coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which was identified in 2019, caused the COVID-19 respiratory disease pandemic.
It started spreading worldwide at the beginning of the year 2020 like fire spreads in a forest. In India, lakhs of people were affected by the outbreak of Covid-19. Numerous Jumbo Covid Centers were opened in different cities in the country itself. The Jumbo Covid Centers accommodated a lot of covid affected patients.
But there had been cases earlier that fraudsters are creating fake Instagram accounts using the name of Jumbo covid centers, one such incident was recorded yet again.
The dean of the BKC Jumbo Covid Center, Dr. Rajesh Dere, reported the incident to the Mumbai Cyber Police after con artists used his name to open a fake Instagram account and begin requesting donations from his patients and students.
Dere learned what was going on Friday night after getting a call from one of his students.
The scammer revealed details of a digital wallet where users may send money. But none of Dere’s relationships contributed.
Police are trying to find out who created the fictional account that is so similar to Dere’s.
This is reportedly the second time swindlers have created a fake account in Dere’s name on social media.
Before this, the doctor’s name was used to create a fake Facebook account and demand payment. Dere had also reported the incident to the police at the time.
