Google Workspace added new features to alert customers of potential threats

Google Workspace has been updated to alert admins of highly sensitive changes from configuration to single sign-on (SSO) profiles and accounts. Single sign-on authentications let the admin verify multiple websites and applications that are attached to a single set of credentials. This recently added alert system is available on various Google Workspaces from legacy G Suite Basic to Business customers.

According to a statement by Google, this new alert system is incorporated as default notifications and can not be overturned. Google said, “These additional intelligence alerts will closely monitor several sensitive actions, making it easier for admins to stay on top of high-risk changes to their environment and potentially malicious actions being taken by bad actors.”

Google further added, “For each alert, admins and super admins will receive an email notification with key information regarding the event. Once the alert is received, admins can use the security investigation tool to further investigate the incident.”

Google Workspace alert system will notify the admin of the changes whether there’s a password reset notification for the super admin or a third-party SSO profile has been downloaded, enabled, added, or deleted from the admin’s organization.

Google has claimed that the notifications can not be turned off but the admin can control which user will receive email alerts and find more information about its configuration such as the alert center, viewing alert details, and admin audit logs from the Help Center.

Sources say that the admin will be notified by the Alert Center if it has a high-risk vulnerability that could compromise an organization. Google has also used a new Google Drive warning banner in order to alert its customers of potentially suspicious files. The company has also added a nee Google Drive Phishing and Malware Protection to the Google Drive to automatically filter infectious files and at the same time make them visible only to the admins.

Google has guaranteed to keep its Workspace clean by removing potential threats and malicious files in order to protect the customers from cyberattacks.
