Indian government website gets hacked; hackers may trick you by using a fake government portal!

The cyber-security investigators today have found an unusual malware, which has been attacking several government websites worldwide, including the Indian government’s portal https://india.gov.in.

Consequently, the malicious actor was been attacking the Indian government’s website by using a fake URL to fool the users and compelled them to submit the sensitive details of credit cards and account numbers.

Hackers were copying the browser window of the Indian government website to trick the users. The criminals used a most-advanced hacking technique known as Browser-in-the-Browser (BitB) for the attack. BitB takes every personal detail as well as bank details of the users.

Once the victims click on the spam page, a pop-up appears on the window stating that their systems have been blocked. Then the hacker fools their victims by notifying them that they use pornographic websites too much and that is illegal under the Indian law. Afterwards, the fake website shows a request to pay a fine of Rs 30,000 to unlock their systems. Accordingly, the fake site shows a form and asks to fill it out to the user in order to pay the fine and then indulge them to give their personal information, including their credit card details too.
