LibreOffice7.4 knocks the market with multiple advancements

LibreOffice, one of the World’s supreme open-source office suite is back with a unique mind-boggling version, LibreOffice 7.4. It brings back multiple modifications and intricate fixes. The version explicitly entails a minor productivity-focused feature.

The fourth version of branch seven caters to the need of enhancing the project’s interoperability and compatibility with proprietary MS Office document formats. 

147 individual contributors teamed up with 528 volunteers to make LibreOffice 7.4 a triumphant reality. The team through their intricate efforts made 658,000 changes, wherein the volunteers provided localizations in 158 languages. Employees of Three companies sitting on TDF’s Advisory Board (Collabora, Red Hat, and Allotropic – or other organizations (including The Document Foundation) seized the accountability for 72% of the code. The responsibility of the remaining 28% was given to  95 individual volunteers. 

Version 7.4 has a lot to offer to its users. Some noteworthy highlights are:

  • General 
  1. It supports the WebP images import/export support  and EMZ/WMZ files
  2. Help pages for the ScriptForge scripting library
  3. Search field for the Extension Manager
  • LibreOffice Writer consists of new typographic Settings and better tracking in the footnote area
  • Calc spreadsheet software that can support up to 16,384 columns along with Extra functions in the drop-down AutoSum widget
  • Furthermore, the version offers  improved text layout performance for PDF export and other scenarios, Microsoft PPTX import/export enhancements, and much more

LibreOffice has become a benchmark that provides the maximum level of compatibility encircling the Office suite Market. With native support for the OpenDocument Format, battering proprietary formats, providing superior support for MS Office files and entire control in users’ hands. 

It’s recommended that users should switch to the new version to experience dramatic and legitimate improvements. However, it’s suggested to operate ODF files instead of DOC or DOCX as they continue to provide a safe, secure, and ISO-approved interface. 

Momentarily, the Migration Protocol has been unveiled by the Document Foundation for the Enterprises that switched from MS Office to LibreOffice. The big reveal also divulged that companies should adapt ‘LibreOffice for Enterprises’ as it would allow them to outshine with heightened growth and potential that envelops the project.
