Major retail chain 7-Eleven in Denmark exposed to cyber attack

7 Eleven which is one of the major retail chains in the world may have been a victim of a cyberattack in Denmark. The company’s employee stated that the cash registers weren’t working properly because of which customers were getting anxious as to why they are not being billed quickly.

A post was posted by a 7-Eleven employee in Denmark who acknowledged the cyberattack and said they were forced to close the store since the checkout systems failed.

“Working at the 7-eleven at Strøget and our checkout system does not work, all the country’s 7-eleven run with the same system, so all 7-eleven in Denmark are “closed” right now,” the 7-Eleven employee wrote in a Reddit post.

“We have put up a sign and closed the doors to the public.”

Early on August 8th, the business posted on Facebook that they were likely “exposed to a hacker attack.” The firm has closed all of its sites nationally as it investigates the security issue, according to the translated statement.

“Unfortunately, we suspect that we have been exposed to a hacker attack today, Monday 8 August 2022. This means that we cannot use checkouts and/or receive payment. We are therefore keeping the stores closed until we know the extent. We naturally hope that we can open the stores again soon.” – 7-Eleven DK.

There is currently no more information available about the attack, including if ransomware was utilized. Ransomware attacks are now the most common cyberattacks to cause substantial outages.

We also tried to reach out to the company, however, no information was made available to us at the time of publishing the news.
