Ransomware attack has disrupted Foxconn production in Mexico
The Foxconn electronics manufacturer has confirmed that one of its Mexico – based production plants has been impacted by a ransomware attack in late May. However, there has been no such information on the group responsible for the attack but operators of the LockBit ransomware gang claimed responsibility.
Foxconn operates the facilities in Mexico, which is the production company for mobiles, TVs, computers and set-top boxes, which are further distributed to Sony, Motorola etc.
The factory is located in Tijuana, Mexico and is considered a strategic facility that acts as a critical supply hub for the United States, which is an important electronics consumer.
Foxconn has assured that there is only minimal impact with the attack that struck, and the recovery will now be with a pre-planned plan
“The factory is gradually returning to normal. The disruption caused to business operations will be handled through production capacity adjustment. The cybersecurity attack is estimated to have little impact on the Group’s overall operations. relevant information about the incident is also provided instantly to our management, clients and suppliers.” – Foxconn.
