Realme Enhanced Intelligence Services brings it in notice of minister of state for IT and electronics
Realme has come under the target of the government because of its default-enabled “Enhanced Intelligent Services”. A user named Rishi Bagree recently shared a tweet on Twitter and wrote “Realme’s smartphone has a feature (Enhanced Intelligent Services) that captures the user’s data (call logs, SMS, and location info) and it is “On” by default.
You can only see this “on” by default feature when you go to Settings -> Additional Settings -> System Services -> Enhanced Intelligent Services.
Indian users are kept in the dark to share their data without their consent. This is basically forced consent since it’s on by default.
Is this data being sent to China?
The user has also shared a screenshot of the phone’s display that shows that this feature in the name of improving user experiences collects information like app usage statistics, location information, calendar events, and statistics about unread SMS statements and missed calls.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the minister of state for IT and electronics, took this into consideration and wrote “Will hv this tested and checked”. The Ministry is going to look over it and the consequences of this default-enabled feature that claims to provide “Enhanced Intelligence Services”.
