TeamViewer Detects Security Irregularity, Launches Investigation

TeamViewer a company that sells software to remotely control and manage Windows PCs and other computers as well as tools to access systems via the web said in its recent announcement that they have detected an irregularity within one of its networks. As per the company, the “security team detected an irregularity in TeamViewer’s internal corporate IT environment”. As soon it was detected the company says that it began an investigation with the “team of globally renowned cyber security experts and implemented necessary remediation measures”.

Though the statement reads that the product and corporate IT environment are independent of each other it does not guarantee that the customer data has not been compromised. Any evidence has not yet been found by the company that the product environment or customer data is affected.

Ever since this news came out the TeamViewer stock has fallen sharply thus affecting the company. Specific information about so-called “irregularity” or say intrusion is not disclosed though the company’s large user base data is at stake until clear information comes out.
