Siddarth Kaul dreams of playing in the IPL with MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma

Unlike Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, Siddharth Kaul’s path to the senior team hasn’t been smooth enough. Punjab pacer Rohit Sharma is still trying to figure out his role in the Indian team.
He recently said, “It’s my dream to play under MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma in the IPL.” He has been a part of IPL since 2013. In IPL 2022 three teams can reach him to play for them. It can be Sunrisers Hyderabad who released him recently after playing 8 matches in 2021. the next can be Punjab Kings. Siddharth Kaul represents Punjab in domestic cricket. The third can be Rajasthan royals. Among their players last season were Jaydev Unadkat, Chetan Sakariya, and Kartik Tyagi. If they cannot buy them back at the auction, they may need Kaul to fill in one of their places.

In the 2008 U-19 World Cup in Malaysia, which India had won under Kohli’s captaincy, Kaul was the joint-highest wicket-taker for India with Jadeja and Iqbal Abdulla with 10 wickets from five games.

Kaul, however, had to wait for five years to break into the India A side for the 2013 South Africa tour. As a 23-year-old, Kaul played only one match in that tour but returned with a couple of wickets.

However, Kaul’s luck in the IPL didn’t work either, as he played just 11 games for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) from 2013-2014.

The deadlock was finally broken in 2017, when he was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, and he used his knuckleballs, one of his sharpest weapons, to deceive batters. Kaul finished the season with 16 wickets.
