Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 officially announced, support 5G and 120fps FHD+ display for improved clarity and smooth, seamless scrolling

Snapdragon has announced its latest chipset Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Mobile Platform which is aiming to power the budget smartphone segment. As per the announcement, it will deliver impressive and smooth performance for effortless, all-day usage. The Qualcomm Redmi and Vivo will be the first to come with this processor in their smartphones.

“Snapdragon – at its core – is driving innovation while meeting the demands of OEMs and the broader industry,” said Matthew Lopatka, director of product management, at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “With this generational advancement in the Snapdragon 4-series, consumers will have greater access to the most popular and relevant mobile features and capabilities. We optimized every aspect of the platform in order to maximize the experiences for users.”

Performance

The upgraded storage and enhanced processing will allow fast, seamless multitasking and app usage. You won’t have to face the lag as this processor supports a 120fps FHD+ display for improved clarity and smooth, seamless scrolling. And the Qualcomm “Kyro” CPU offers up to 10% better performance and up to 2.2GHz peak speeds.

Camera

This chipset brings a remarkable improvement in the camera by intelligent noise reduction that eliminates grainy, hazy aspects within the frame. You will be able to autofocus faster than before thus capturing shots without blur. Its AI-enhanced Low Light lets you capture the best shot any time of the day.

5G and Wi-Fi

This chipset is 5G supported thus making 5G accessible to all through the budget smartphone that it will power. It supports more networks, frequencies, and bandwidth globally. Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5 is a solution to weak Wi-Fi connections for gaming, streaming, and more. Snapdragon “X61 5G Modem RF System supports downlink speed up to 2.5Gbps.

As we mentioned above, this chipset will be seen in Redmi and Vivo budget smartphones and can arrive by the second half of this year. Reports say that Redmi Note 12R can be the first smartphone to feature this processor.
