Steve Cook tells that paramedics saved his father’s life when he suffered a heart arrest before Bournemouth clash

Following Forest’s 1-0 defeat, the ex-Cherries captain praised rescuers for saving his father’s life in a tweet. Cook, 31, started the match against his previous club, who won and sent the Reds to the play-offs, securing automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Cook wrote on Twitter: “First of all a big congratulations to AFC Bournemouth on promotion but tonight I need to thank the paramedics at the game. Unfortunately, my dad suffered a cardiac arrest just before the game and they managed to bring him back to life. I’ll forever be grateful for their actions.”

Bournemouth joined winners Fulham in securing promotion to the Premier League after Kieffer Moore scored the game’s sole goal in the 83rd minute. Before joining Forest in January, Cook played 387 games for Bournemouth, including three Championship games earlier this season. He collided with Nat Phillips in the 19th minute and was replaced late at the Vitality Stadium as Kieffer Moore’s clinching goal sent the Cherries to the Premier League. Forest’s defeat puts them in the Championship play-offs, with the club aiming to return to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker, who left newly-crowned champions Fulham to join the Cherries last summer, said: “I am very proud of the team and the group of players. I see this group every day from the minute I walk in here. This group are a special group and they deserve their moment, they deserve to be in the Premier League.”

“I am excited and pleased we are in the Premier League. We deserve it. Our aim was to get promoted and we have done it.”
