Here’s the Latest Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform: To Power Meta’s Quest 3

Qualcomm, the American multinational semiconductor company, has now introduced its new Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset that is capable of powering the next generation XR and MR devices, by offering amazing performance and an on-device AI.

Here are some of the features of the latest chipset.

Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform

The Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm, is a new premium-tier purpose-built platform and is powerful enough to deliver great virtual reality visuals mixed with real-life surroundings. It is optimized in such a way that it delivers the best visual experience, intuitive interactions, and better battery efficiency.

Speaking more about its features, the chipset is integrated with Qualcomm’s next-generation Adreno GPU with 2.5x higher GPU performance. This will allow the devices powered by the chipset to display visuals or scenes at a faster refresh rate with high-level detailing.

It also supports technologies like dynamic foveated rendering, space warp, and game super-resolution, enabling users to enjoy a seamless gaming experience and use apps more smoothly. With the help of the support for 3k by 3k displays, the chipset will also be able to bring out true-to-life scenes on the device.

The upgraded ISP(image signal processor) and the ultra-fast 12ms video see-through latency, further take the visual experience one step ahead by offering a smooth transition between real and virtual worlds.

The on-device AI will also act to offer 8x more powerful performance on the device. With the on-device AI, support for 10 concurrent cameras, and the dedicated XR acceleration blocks, users will be receiving the best and ever-known interaction concurrency.

For a better user experience, the chipset also packs itself with the best and premium MR and VR technologies, and that too in a single chip architecture, thereby making the devices powered by the chipset thinner and lighter. One of the most notable points is its battery efficiency, freeing the devices from using an external battery pack.

Coming to its connectivity, the chipset supports Qualcomm’s latest FastConnect, featuring support for Wi-Fi 7 & Wi-Fi 6E and also for Bluetooth 5.3 and 5.2 wireless technologies.

From what has now been revealed, Meta’s latest XR headset – the Meta Quest 3, will be powered by this latest Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform.
