Xiaomi HyperOS is Now Official: To Debut on the Brand’s 14 Series Devices

After many rumors and reports pointing to Xiaomi’s new operating system, the official update regarding the OS is now out. The upcoming Xiaomi operating system dubbed “Xiaomi HyperOS”, will be arriving soon, and will replace the 13 years’ legacy of MIUI.

Here’s more about it.

Xiaomi HyperOS Debuting Soon

Lei Jun, Xiaomi founder and CEO, via his official Twitter account, confirmed that the brand will be debuting its Xiaomi HyperOS officially on the upcoming 14 series devices. He has also noted that the day marks a historic moment and the new operating system that will be unveiled soon, is the result of years of collective work.

Previously, it was said that the brand would name its operating system MiOS and it was reported that the company had registered the name “mios.cn”. To note, it was also shared before that Xiaomi’s self-developed OS would be first arriving on the Xiaomi 14 series smartphones.

To the doubts regarding whether the HyperOS is an entirely new operating system similar to Huawei’s HarmonyOS, or something like the FuntouchOS, OriginOS, ColorOS, or OxygenOS, which are all custom UIs based on the Android operating system, Lei Jun has now clarified that the HyperOS will be “based on the integration of the deeply evolved Android and the self-developed Vela system”. Xiaomi’s Vela is understood to be an IoT software system platform that is based on the open-source embedded operating system – NuttX.

Following Lei Jun’s post confirming the HyperOS, he has also tweeted again mentioning that he is excited about the Xiaomi HyperOS, as well as everything the brand has under its sleeve, and in brackets, has added “or in my hand” – an upcoming Xiaomi 14 series device, reported to be the Xiaomi 14.

Xiaomi’s 14 series was expected to have its launch next month, in the month of November 2023, but recent updates suggest that the upcoming smartphones of the series might be released this month itself, on the 27th of October 2023. If the expected launch date turns out to be true, we’ll be able to get to see the Xiaomi HyperOS debuting alongside the 14 series devices soon.
