Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC announced with improved AI performance and faster GPU performance

Qualcomm finally unveiled its much-awaited mobile chipset Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC on Friday, November 17. This new mid-range 5G mobile platform is based on TSMC’s 4nm process technology. It boasts peak CPU speeds of 2.63GHz and is announced to deliver 50 percent faster GPU performance and 60 percent improved AI performance over its predecessor.

It has a 1+3+4 design in which the prime core is clocked at 2.6GHz frequency, three performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The setup is claimed to offer 15 percent improved performance and 20 percent improved power efficiency. It supports 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM at 3200MHz speed and UFS 3.1 storage standard.

This newly announced chipset can support up to 4K 60Hz displays or WFHD+ screens at 168Hz refresh rate. It is equipped with the Qualcomm Spectra triple ISP that can support up to 200 MP primary camera and video shooting ability of up to 4K HDR video at 60 frames per second. The chip is also said to allow phones to simultaneously use all three camera sensors and provide AI Remosaic and AI video Retouch imaging features. It can render 50 percent faster graphics and offer select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features like Qualcomm Game Quick Touc and Adreno HDR Fast Blend.

Additionally, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC also brings support for the Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF system, Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 for Wi-Fi 6/6E, Bluetooth 5.3 (aptX Voice, aptX Lossless and aptX Adaptive encoding), and NavIC. It includes Hexagon NPU, support for OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.3, OpenCL 2.0 FP APIs, and triple frequency (L1/L5/L2) support in the GNSS antenna.

This newly announced mobile 5G platform will first be seen in Honor and Vivo phones in the upcoming days.
