Wartime phishing alert, do not send donations to Georgianlegion.net; requests cybersecurity

A military organization made up mostly of volunteers of ethnic Georgian descent who fought for Ukraine in both the Russo-Ukrainian War and the War in Donbass is known as the Georgian National Legion. The unit was created in 2014 and transferred under the command of the Ukrainian Army’s 25th Mechanized Infantry Battalion “Kyiv Rus” in 2016. Mamuka Mamulashvili, a seasoned police officer from Georgia, is in charge of the squad. Most foreign warriors served in the Georgian Legion before the formation of the International Legion of Ukraine in 2022. According to Kacper Rekawek, an expert on foreign fighters in Ukraine, the gang was particularly skilled at luring Americans.

In February 2016, the Georgian Legion formally merged into the 25th motorized infantry battalion, or “Kyiv Rus,” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

During the 1990s Abkhaz conflict, Ukrainians formerly provided Georgia with major help in its fight against Russian occupation. Ukraine was the only country to publicly support Georgia in its fight with Russia. I believe that everyone in Georgia should go to Ukraine and help out there.

They said: “Therefore, the fact that we are here is not at all surprising. For example, now my friend, who was rescued by the Ukrainian military in Georgia when he was six years old, is fighting with me. We are here because this is the front line where the border of freedom and independence of both Ukraine and Georgia passes.”

Now, the news has been circulating that has been a wartime phishing alert. they have asked everyone not to send donations to the Georgianlegion.net, it’s attempting to impersonate Georgian Legion to phish financial support away from Ukraine. They have requested to only donate to verified, reputable websites, which is georgianlegion.com.ua
