An alleged Google Pixel 8 Pro spotted with the infamous Green Line
Google recently launched its much-awaited Pixel 8 series at the 2023 Made by Google event. It came preloaded with Android 14 OS and Tensor G3 chipset. Just recently, a Reddit user shared an image of a smartphone that the user mentioned is a Pixel 8 Pro. The image shows the phone display with a green line issue, though it can’t be verified whether it’s a Pixel 8 Pro or some other phone. A user sharing the image wrote on Reddit “Thank God I was at the store when this thing happened”.
If the user is to be believed it’s disturbing to see the green line issue on recently launched Pixel 8 Pro smartphones but we want you to take this with a pinch of salt due to lack of evidence. But if you see the reflection on the screen of this smartphone, it looks more like the Google Pixel 8 Pro with curved edges. The phone looks like was in setup mode when this green line appeared.
The user didn’t state the reason behind the green line on this new Pixel 8 Pro in his post. But he did say, that he was able to get a replacement from the store at that time.
The green line issue is said to be associated with the hardware problem that arises when the display connector or flex cable that connects the display to the motherboard gets loose, damaged, or defective. It can cause irreversible damage to the show with a green line.
It can also appear after a software update as we have earlier seen in the case of Samsung and Oneplus phones or can also be caused by some external damage. Companies have tried to solve it from their end by either rolling out an update that solves this up to an extent or promising to provide a lifetime screen warranty.
This issue first surfaced with an OLED and AMOLED display in mid-2018. As of now a number of smartphone brand users have been hard hit by this issue.
