U-19 World cup 2022: India Dominates Australia in the semifinals
India defeated Australia by 96 runs in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Super League Semi-Final 2 on 2 February. In Antigua, the match was played at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, where, batting first, India posted a formidable 290/5 thanks to a 200-plus partnership between skipper Yash Dhull and No 3 batter Shaik Rashid. Rashid unfortunately fell six short of a well-deserved hundred while Dhull made 110.
India’s U-19 squad will face England in the final for the chance to extend its record of five U19 World Cup titles. It will also mark India’s fourth consecutive appearance in the final.
The Australians chased a big target of 291 runs but were bowled out for 194 in 41.5 overs.
The Indian bowling attack, led by left-arm spinner Vicky Ostwal, were too good for the Australian batters.
Ostwal, who was in fine form, took three wickets. Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Kaushal Tambe took one wicket each, while Nishan Sindhu and Ravi Kumar claimed two wickets each.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) congratulated the U-19 squad on Twitter. In congratulating the boys for their outstanding performance, the Board noted in the caption that this is India U-19 players’ 4th consecutive appearance and 8th appearance overall in the U-19 World Cup finals.
