Apple V/S Facebook? Let’s find out who wins
Most of do find it really frustrating when the apps that we use haawkshaw on us through their apps and using our own data against us. Popular apps such as Facebook even Google along with a bunch of other apps do it.
Last year Apple, unlike facebook and google decided and simentaneously announced polices and privacy controls which will prevent apps from tracking its users.
The feature was expected to roll out last year in September. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, it got delayed due to multiple reasons. It was tagged along by an outcry by Facebook, as it stated that these features would harm app developers.
In spite of facing difficulties, Apple managed to release the latest scheduled updates earlier in January 2021. These scheduled updates are a part of Data Privacy Day which Tim Cook announced during his speech at a technology conference in Europe. By spring i.e. around late March or early April 2021 the new privacy features are expected to be a part of the next iOS update.
One of the reasons, Apple delayed/ held on rolling out the new features was so that it could give some time to Facebook and other app developers to adjust to the feature. Naturally, once this feature rolls out, Experts have predicted that a majority of app users are going to decline from giving their consent to be tracked by apps.
Recently, Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg said, “Apple may say that they are doing this to help people, but the moves clearly track their competitive interests.”
