Ban on Kanye West’s Twitter account removed by Twitter, however monetization and ad restriction still prevails
On Saturday, Elon Musk unsuspended the Twitter account of Ye, the rapper popularly known as Kanye West. About six months back, the platform suspended Ye’s Twitter account in regard to violation of Twitter rules.
Twitter resorted to banning the rapper’s account after a post that displayed an image of a swastika inside a Star of David. Twitter took this decision on grounds of “incitement of violence”. Twitter suspended his account in the month of December 2022.
The rapper’s last post on the platform dates back to Dec.1, 2022. The rapper hasn’t been in the vicinity of sharing any post on the platform as it was suspended until now.
In a row of events, Twitter initially restricted Ye’s account in the month of October 2022. The rapper shared antisemitic comments against the Jews on the platform, consequently, Twitter resorting to restricting him. The remarks on the platform also resulted in Adidas closing off all relations with Ye.
However, after this event, Ye’s account was back in the month of November 2022.
Now in a recent development, Twitter has removed the ban on the rapper’s account. However, according to reports, Ye’s account won’t be allowed monetization and ads next to his posts.
As of now, no statements have been publicly expressed by Elon Musk regarding the unsuspension of the popular rapper’s account.
