Construction of Starship orbital launch pad at the Cape has begun – Elon Musk
The controversy over whether a new SpaceX structure was meant for a water tower or a launchpad may finally be put to rest after much ado about nothing and a multi-day fan fight. It was almost certain, as of almost two weeks ago, that the concrete foundation SpaceX was working on would be wildly excessive for a water tower, turning the question of whether it would be a suborbital or orbital-class test stand for Starship into a question of whether it would be a suborbital or orbital-class test stand for Starship.
Musk has now stated – perhaps unexpectedly – that the foundation will eventually support an “orbital launch mount” capable of hosting the world’s largest and most powerful rocket.
