Delhi Police’s Reply to Sehar Shinwari
Following the arrest of the PTI(Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) chairman, Imran Khan just before he was about to enter the Islamabad High Court for a hearing on Tuesday, 9th May, riots and protests have been spreading all over the country demanding his release and declaring the arrest as illegal.
Imran Khan, who is also the former prime minister of Pakistan was arrested by Rangers personnel from the Islamabad High Court, acting upon the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB’s) arrest warrant. Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, along with some other PTI leaders are currently facing a NAB inquiry regarding the PTI government’s settlement with a property tycoon. Reports reveal that the settlement had caused a loss of about 190 million pounds for the nation.
Even after declaring the arrest as legal and based on factual reasons, supporters of the PTI are still demanding his release, and Pakistan cities which include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and Mardan are full of protests. To prevent the protests and to control the riots that are taking place, police have also fired teargas shells at the protesters in some of the localities.
Amidst all these happenings, the Pakistani actress, Sehar Shinwari came to the Twitter platform asking for the online link of the Delhi Police.
She states that she wants to file a complaint against the Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi, and also against India’s intelligence agency, RAW as according to her, is spreading chaos and terrorism in her country. She has also mocked the legal system of India by mentioning that if the courts of India are free as is claimed, then the Supreme Court of India is sure to provide her justice,(she has added a “fingers-crossed” emoji along with it).
Replying to her tweet, the Delhi Police has retweeted her tweet adding that the Delhi Police of India still do not have jurisdiction in Pakistan. The Delhi Police was also curious to know how Sehar Shinwari was able to tweet as the internet facilities in Pakistan has been shut down completely following the protests that had ensued.
Here’s the tweet for reference.
We are afraid we still do not have jurisdiction in Pakistan.
But, would like to know how come you are tweeting when the internet has been shut down in your country! https://t.co/lnUCf8tY59
