On November 29, Parag Agrawal was named Twitter’s new CEO, after Jock Dorsey, who stepped down.
Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, is known for his fascinating Twitter messages, and on December 1, he sent a Stalin meme to Twitter’s leaders, Parag Agrawal and Jack Dorsey.
Musk’s meme consisted of two images: one depicting Twitter’s incoming CEO, Parag Agrawal, in the same frame as outgoing CEO Jack Dorsey, and the other showing Agrawal happy but Dorsey absent from the frame.
The photograph depicts Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin with his former confidante Nikolai Yezhov. According to historians, after the Great Purge, Stalin had Yezhov – who was executed for supposedly plotting against him – erased from a photograph taken roughly ten years earlier, near the Moscow Canal, in 1930.

Notably, on November 29, Agrawal, an Indian-origin IT executive who has been with Twitter since 2011, was named the company’s CEO. He took over as CEO of the firm from Jack Dorsey, who co-founded it in 2006 and had been its co-founder since 2015.
Musk had tweeted in response to Agrawal’s promotion, “CEOs who grew up in India lead Google, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, and now Twitter. It’s inspiring to see Indians achieve incredible success in the technological industry; it’s a fantastic reminder of the opportunities that America provides to immigrants.
