The new feature will provide Facebook users with facts, figures and data from credible sources. These sources include the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), U.N. Environment Programme (UNEP), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, World Meteorological Organization (WMO), among others.
Social media giant Facebook launched a climate science information centre in order to provide its users with “science-based information” about climate change.
The company said the project is modelled on its COVID-19 Information Centre.
The tool will be rolled out in the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, and eventually to other countries.
“The Climate Science Information Centre is a dedicated space on Facebook with factual resources from the world’s leading climate organizations and actionable steps people can take in their everyday lives to combat climate change,” the company said.
