Google Pixel Watch 3 – FDA-Cleared Loss of Pulse Detection Feature

The Loss of Pulse Detection feature as per what Google claims is a first of its kind feature introduced by the brand and it was initially announced in 2024, last year. This feature which makes use of multi-modal AI to detect when a user’s heart stops beating due to reasons like primary cardiac arrest, respiratory/circulatory failure, or poisoning/overdose and automatically prompt a call to emergency services if the user still remains unresponsive even after 20 seconds, is now FDA-cleared as mentioned.

The main aim of the feature as per what has been revealed by the brand is to enhance a smartwatch’s role in emergency medical scenarios. It is available in 14 countries, and the roll-out in the US market will be starting from the end of next month in March 2025. To add, along with the Car Crash Detection, Fall Detection, Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications, ECG app, and Safety Check features, the FDA-cleared Loss of Pulse Detection feature is also believed to be a valuable addition on the Pixel Watch 3 as per the brand. However, there are some skepticism too regarding its reliability with respect to similar features provided on other brands’ smartwatch models.
