Google Search – Gemini 2.0 Integration and New AI Mode
As of on the 5th of March 2025, Google has launched the Gemini 2.0 for AI Overviews in the United States. Starting with advanced math, coding, and multi-modal queries, and with more support to come soon, AI Overviews with the Gemini 2.0 integrated will be capable of helping users with harder questions. Also, faster and more quality responses are assured with it. Additionally, AI Overviews is also now expanded to more, including teens, and users won’t have to sign-in anymore to access it.
The newly introduced AI Mode is an early experiment in Labs, which allows users to expand the capabilities of AI Overviews and get help with more advanced reasoning, thinking, and multi-modal features. It will be able to assist users with questions that require further reasoning, exploration, and comparison.
Google has been collecting internal feedback as well as feedback from trusted testers, revealing that the AI Mode is incredibly helpful and it was well praised for its quality, speed, and fresh responses. The brand has now decided to expand its testing of AI Mode with a limited opt-in experience in Labs, and Google One AI Premium subscribers are invited to test it. Subsequently, in the next testing phase, Google plans to address the challenges in AI Mode and also improve the user experience, based on the feedback received from the early testers.
