Hate Speech Continues to Decline on Twitter: Still Twitter Users Aren’t Satisfied with the New Updates
Twitter and Elon Musk has continued to be on the news for quite a while. Recently Elon Musk shared a post regarding the declining rate of hate speech on Twitter. Many Twitter users have expressed their discontent regarding all the new updates.
Declining Rate of Hate Speech on Twitter
Twitter had always been a platform that offered its users freedom of speech and was a place to express themselves. But Elon Musk has made the statement that freedom of speech doesn’t mean the freedom to make hate speech.
The rate of hate speech on Twitter was 10 million and according to the post that Musk shared it has reduced to about 2.5 million.
Elon Musk has also shared that Twitter will be going to publish a weekly data report on the TwitterSafety account regarding this.
Even though all the necessary steps have been taken by Twitter to reduce hate speech, users continue to show their discontent towards the new changes.
Twitter suspended the account of Kanye West and many users were angry with this. The reason Twitter pointed out was the concern for not promoting hate speech.
If this was the case, Twitter wouldn’t have restored the account of the Neo Nazist Andrew Anglin back on Twitter says a Twitter user.
If the freedom of speech is allowed then Republicans including Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos should be brought back says another Twitter user.
To show their discontent many Twitter users have also decided to stop using Twitter and have expressed their dissatisfaction with how things have changed ever since Elon Musk has taken charge.
Hate speech impressions (# of times tweet was viewed) continue to decline, despite significant user growth!@TwitterSafety will publish data weekly.
Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom of reach. Negativity should & will get less reach than positivity. pic.twitter.com/36zl29rCSM
