Here is what Jack Dorsey texted Elon Musk regarding Twitter

Jack Patrick Dorsey (aka Jack Dorsey), the co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, texted Elon Musk on March 26, 2022. Here is what he said to the SpaceX CEO:

As we can see from the glimpse of their conversation, Jack Dorsey said to Musk that a new platform is needed for Twitter and it can’t be a company anymore. He also stated that this is the reason he left.

Here is what Jack Dorsey texted Elon Musk regarding Twitter

After that, Elon Musk asked how should it look like.

Dorsey explained that it must be like an open source protocol, supported by a kind of foundation that neither creates nor controls the protocol, but only advances it. It cannot have a model for advertising.  Otherwise, there would be surface areas that government and advertisers will try to influence and control. It will be attacked if it has a centralized entity.  It’s not difficult to work; it simply must be executed correctly to be resilient to what has happened to Twitter.

This seemed a super interesting idea to Elon.

After that Dorsey said that he left the Twitter board in May and then completely out of the company. He also cleared that his intention is to work this out and fix the issue. He reminded Elon Musk that Twitter started as a protocol and that it should have never been a company and that’s the original sin.

After seeing the text, Elon said that he would like to help if he is able to.

Then Dorsey cleared to Musk that he wanted to talk to him after he was all clear since Elon cares very much, understands its importance, and could help. Dorsey added that when they had activists come in, he tried his best to get Elon on their board but the board rejected him.

In reply to this, Musk asked Dorsey if he had some time to talk.

Dorsey said that he was to have his dinner but can talk for a minute.

Dorsey explained the situation to Elon by saying that the board was already aware of some risks and they thought that adding Elon would increase the risk.

Elon asked him to discuss more.

Elon further added that it’s worth it to direct Twitter in a better direction.

And Dorsey also thinks that this is the best decision.
