How a US Professor got his 5 minutes of fame by calling out Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos; Says ‘Self-made Billionaires’ A ‘Myth’

Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Jeff Bezos are among the targets of American professors. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the world’s richest man, called an American professor a “idiot and liar” on Wednesday. The professor, Robert Reich, claimed Elon Musk’s family-owned emerald mines in Apartheid-era South Africa. “Elon Musk came from a family that owned an emerald mine in Apartheid South Africa,” Reich tweeted.

In a tweet, Robert Reich called “self-made billionaires” a “myth.” Robert Reich, a Berkeley professor and former US Secretary of Labor, posted a video on the myth of self-made billionaires in which he argued that several billionaires who are described as self-made had privileged upbringings.

Robert Reich also trained his guns on Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, whose mother, according to Reich, used her connections to help Microsoft get a deal with IBM. Getting after Amazon chief Jeff Bezos, Reich said Bezos who famously started Amazon in his garage, was “funded by a quarter-million dollar investment from his parents.”

Robert Reich tweeted, “Bill Gates’ mom helped Microsoft get a deal with IBM.”

Hitting back at the professor, Elon Musk tweeted, “You both an idiot and a liar.”

Robert Reich attempted to dispel the myth of self-made billionaires in his video. He noted that many of the world’s wealthiest people began their careers with financial security, allowing them to take bigger risks for bigger rewards.

Elon Musk was born in South Africa to Errol and Maye Musk, and as a teenager moved to Canada.
