IATA offers condolences for 132 passengers of the Chinese air plane crash MU5735

The International Air Transport Association (IATA), founded in 1945, is a trade association of the world’s airlines. In 2016, the IATA’s member airlines carried around 82 per cent of total available seat miles air traffic, with 290 airlines, predominantly major carriers, representing 117 nations.

IATA has formally made a statement We are shocked and saddened by the crash of @ceairglobal flight #MU5735. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the passengers and crew on the flight.

According to FlightRadar24 data, the aeroplane left Kunming at 1:11 pm (0511 GMT) and was scheduled to land in Guangzhou at 3:05 pm (0705 GMT). It was destroyed at Tengxian County, Wuzhou.
At 0620 GMT, the jet, which Flightradar24 claimed was six years old, was travelling at 29,100 feet. Data showed that it had dropped to 9,075 feet in just over two minutes and 15 seconds. Its last tracked altitude was 3,225 feet twenty seconds later.

According to rescue personnel, the plane exploded after the accident, causing a large fire that devastated bamboo trees. According to a provincial firefighting department official reported by the People’s Daily, there was no trace of life among the rubble.

Hundreds of rescue workers from Guangxi and adjacent Guangdong provinces were quickly mobilised. Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged for the rescue operation to make an “all-out effort,” as well as an investigation into the incident and full civil aviation safety.
