Imran Khan finally broke a world record at something, Read more

Imran Khan, Pakistan’s former prime minister, staged a large live Twitter session, which his party called a “record-breaking” event since the number of live listeners reached 165,000 at one point.

On April 20 night, the chairman of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) went live on Twitter Spaces and other social media platforms to connect with his followers all around the world.

Twitter Spaces is a tool that allows users to have audio chats with others in real-time.

Khan went live on numerous social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, where his video was viewed hundreds of times, but he appears to have drawn the largest audience on Twitter, where at least 1.1 million people checked in 16 hours later to listen to his session.

PTI Senator Faisal Javed Khan tweeted, “Imran Khan’s space session sets the record for the most listened-to space since its launch.” According to PTI members, Khan’s Twitter Spaces set a new record for Twitter, surpassing the previous record of almost 44,000 users who attended K-pop sensation BamBam’s spaces, according to LetsOTT digital media firm.

Arslan Khalid and Jibran Ilyas of the PTI social media team, who led the live session, thanked Twitter for “raising constraints” on attendance. The PTI team had asked Twitter to guarantee that the service did not crash as a result of the large number of people watching live.

Khan made history by being the first Pakistani leader to go live on all social media platforms at the same time to communicate with his fans.

Imran Khan spoke for almost 80 minutes about the significance of the rule of law, an independent judiciary, and a strong military. In response to a question, he informed his audience that “Pakistan needs a strong army more than Imran Khan,” and urged them not to criticise the government.

He also noted that the single time he was imprisoned was for speaking out in support of an independent court, emphasising that the country cannot progress without justice and the rule of law.

In response to a question about the ‘foreign funding case’ and the possibility of the PTI party being disqualified, Imran Khan said it was not about foreign funding but about party fundraising, and that the PTI is the only political party in the country with proper donation-based political fundraising.

He said that his party had a difficult time passing legislation during his three-and-a-half years in office due to a sliver of a majority in parliament.

Khan will perform a power show at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on April 21. Khan claims to be spearheading a “freedom struggle” against a “foreign conspiracy of regime change” and has pledged to continue protesting until new elections are held.

After enormous demonstrations in Peshawar and Karachi following Khan’s dismissal, the Lahore rally is the third significant public gathering. On April 10, Khan became Pakistan’s first prime minister to be deposed by a motion of no confidence. The former prime minister claimed the no-confidence vote was backed by the US because he pursued an “independent foreign policy.”
