Indian and Pakistan based Youtube Channels blocked under IT Rules, 2021; was producing fake anti-Indian content: says MIB

Under the IT Rules, 2021, authorities have blocked 7 Indian and 1 Pakistan-based YouTube new channels. These blocked channels collectively received over 114 crore views and had 85 lakh 73 thousand subscribers. 

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting asserted that these YouTube channels were producing fake anti-India content. The creators also monetized these contents. 

The Blocked channels are Loktantra TV with 12.90 lakh subscribers; U&V TV with 10.20 lakh subscribers; AM Razvi with 95,900 subscribers; Gouravshali Pawan Mithilanchal with 7 lakh subscribers; SeeTop5TH with 33.50 lakh subscribers; Sarkari Update with 80,900 subscribers; Sab Kuch Dekho with 19.40 lakh subscribers and News ki Duniya (Pakistan based) with 97,000 subscribers.

The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 branched from the Information Technology Act, 2000. This is also a combination of the draft Intermediaries Rules, 2018 along with the OTT Regulation and Code of Ethics for Digital Media. 

The Central Government of India, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) together coordinated in developing the rules. 

With the coming of the new rules, Intermediaries had time until 25 May 2021 to comply with the laid out rules. 

It can be possible that the authorities will cross check more such content creation channels block more such channels if found so.
