Mark Zuckerberg buys more Hawaii land and a dam site
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has bought more property in Hawaii, including ultimate of a inventory that unleashed a deadly overflow 15 years ago. Property records show Zuckerberg’s Kaloko LLC purchased a 110-acre (44.5-hectare) site on Kauai last month for$ 17 million from a company possessed by the Pflueger family, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported. The purchase includes utmost of a inventory that swamped in 2006, killing seven people, after a section of a dam bursted following 40 days of near-constant rain. James Pflueger was held responsible for the tragedy for his operation of the dam.
Zucerkberg and his wife Priscilla Chang are entrusted to doing their part of fulfilling legal conditions and promoting safety of the inventory, said Ben LaBolt, a spokesperson for the couple. The couple plan to extend agriculture, ranching, conservation and wildlife protection work on the land, LaBolt said. They formerly had acres (526 hectares) on the island. The inventory remains unrepaired and on the state’s list of high- threat dams.
