McLaren will run special chrome livery at the British Grand Prix; Google and McLaren tease the return of the livery

In recent developments, McLaren and Google took to Twitter and revealed that McLaren is bringing back the chrome livery. In their home race at the British Grand Pix, McLaren will run a special chrome-inspired livery.

McLaren used a chrome livery from 2006 to 2014, which stood as an iconic fan-favourite livery. The new design will be a nod to the old iconic livery.

The old chrome livery marked an era of Lewis Hamilton’s drivers’ world championship in 2008. That was the last time McLaren won a world championship. After that, the British operation returned their livery to the team’s roots with the use of papaya.

The new special livery will be used by both MCL60 race cars at the upcoming Silverstone race.

Reports mentioned that Lando Norris will run a special chrome helmet design and bespoke race boots. He and his team mate Oscar Piastri will also wear one-off design race suits.

McLaren CEO, Zak Brown stated that Google Chrome wanted to bring back elements of their iconic livery to celebrate their team’s history at the British Grand Prix. He further expressed that the new livery will bring back memories for many of McLaren’s fans and that he is excited to see it on the track at their home race.

Google VO Global Marketing Nick Drake expressed that bringing back elements of an iconic livery to inspire the takeover was a privilege for the Google Chrome team.
