Meta Instagram’s Twitter Competitor App to Arrive Next Month

Meta’s Instagram, the photo and video-sharing social media platform is going to launch its own Twitter-like app next month, in June 2023. The newly launched app will become a Twitter competitor.

By the end of June 2023, Meta Instagram will officially unveil its own very first chat-based platform which is sure to be a competitor for other such platforms including the most famous microblogging platform, Twitter, and currently a selected few celebrities and creators have access to the new app that will be launched soon via its early access program.

Meta in the past has noticed how Instagram users have started to take their conversations to DMs(Direct Messages) and started considering their feeds just as a discovery page. It is with this in mind that Meta Instagram has decided to launch or create such an application which will be a large group chat network where users will be able to like, reply or even repost the chats. Links, photos, and videos of upto 5 minutes duration can also be added to it.

The new app that is going to be launched will be built on a decentralized back end and users will be able to share posts with upto 500 characters in it. The company has also mentioned that the new platform will also be compatible with other such decentralized systems like Mastodon.

After the app is launched, every Instagram user will easily be able to sign up on the new platform with their Instagram credentials and their followers will be synced automatically to the new platform.
