Motorola is celebrating its 50th anniversary of innovating world’s first cell phone

Motorola, a leading smartphone company, has a legacy of inventing mind-blowing inventions that have given a lot to the world of connection. You would be shocked to know that it was Motorola that gave the world the first handheld cell phone. This cell phone was developed by Martin Cooper an engineer at Motorola and he made his first call using this cell phone on 3 April 1973. He made this call to his competitor whom he had been competing with to develop it and his first line was “I’m calling you on a cell phone, but a real cell phone, a personal, handheld, portable cell phone,”.

It’s been 50 years of this event and Motorola is celebrating this year as a special year. Motorola has posted some of the coolest facts with the name #MotoInnovationLegacy on Twitter. It was Motorola that launched the world’s first commercial portable cellular phone: Motorola Dynatac 800x. Motorola is the first company to bring the world’s first 5G upgradeable smartphone, Moto Z3. These are some of the facts that it has posted and which show its core idea since the beginning is to develop something new for the users.

This company was founded in 1928 as Galvin Manufacturing Corporation by brothers Paul and Joseph Galvin. Its name was changed in 1947 and witnessed a split after a loss of $ 4.3 billion from 2007 to 2009. It is split into Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions.
