A Staffing and Recruiting company in LinkedIn recently posted a job opening for the post of Junior Carbon Developer. It asked for 10 years of Carbon experience. Additionally it also mentioned that they wouldn’t count C++ experience and they wouldn’t grant any exception.
On a regular scenario this job posting isn’t supposed to be weird or dumb in any way. However the question of sanity arises as Google recently launched its new programming language Carbon, on the 19th of July 2022. As obvious it is, it would be bizarre to even ask for one year of experience.
With this, a Twitter user posted the job opening and questioned on the platform if time travel was actually possible. He tweeted, “Is time travel possible? Asking for a friend”.
Google planned on replacing C++ with its new programming language. Frustration behind the slow evolution of C++ is the reason why Google engineers launched the new programming language. Chandler Carruth, a Google engineer presented the language at the CPP North C++ conference in Toronto.
Google wants to turn the project into an independent software foundation, where volunteers will manage its development. The developers of the programming language have planned on releasing the version (“0.1”) by year end.
