Samsung Unveils its Latest 9100 Pro SSD in India and Later Cancels it

The South Korean tech maker, Samsung, very recently unveiled its latest 9100 Pro SSD in the Indian market, however has later cancelled and removed the press release from its Newsroom for India.

Samsung 9100 Pro SSD Launch Cancelled?

As mentioned, Samsung had just introduced its 9100 Pro SSD in India as the successor to the previous 990 Pro SSD with major performance enhancements that includes the new PCIe 5.0 storage interface, expanded storage, improved speed, and better power efficiency. But for some reason, the brand has decided to call off the launch and has removed the press release from the brand’s Indian newsroom.

It is still unclear why Samsung has cancelled it, but it should be noted that while the page in India remains ‘not found’, it is still live on the Samsung Newsroom in the United States.

Samsung 9100 Pro SSD – Features

Samsung’s 9100 Pro SSD is the brand’s first 8TB consumer NVMe SSD, and it assures sustained performance with the incorporated advanced heat management system. An 8.8 mm thick heatsink is featured on the 1TB ~ 4TB models, whereas the 8TB model has a 11.25 mm heatsink. Along with sustained performance, this also provides enhanced battery efficiency of 49% over the previous models.

The improved sequential and random read – write speeds are also an important feature. Its sequential read – write speeds are respectively up to 14,800 MB/s and up to 13,400 MB/s, whereas the random read – write speeds are up to 2,200K and up to 2,600K IOPS. The Samsung Magician software is also an added feature, further enhancing user experience. The 9100 Pro SSD from Samsung is compatible with desktops, laptops, and gaming consoles.

In India, the 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB versions were revealed to be made available from the 18th of March 2025 previously, at price points of INR 14,999, INR 25,499, and INR 49,999 respectively. The 8TB version’s price wasn’t shared, but it was said to be made available in the second half of this year in 2025.
