Second letter from Elon Musk ending Twitter contract

According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Tesla CEO Elon Musk submitted a second letter to Twitter on Monday demanding that Twitter cancel his US$44 billion acquisition agreement, citing claims made by a whistleblower (SEC).

Musk said that the social media platform gave inaccurate and misleading statistics about the number of false or spam accounts in his initial letter, which was sent in July. The board of Twitter reacted, saying it was confident in the transaction and intended to close it at the agreed-upon $54.20 per share price.

In the latest letter addressed, Peiter “Mudge” Zatko, a whistleblower for Twitter, makes several claims, including the company’s critical security flaws. According to Musk’s legal team, the letter is an “additional termination notice in the event that the July 8 Termination Notice is determined to be invalid for any reason.”
