Social Media Giants Twitter and Facebook will hand over the presidential accounts to Joe Biden on inauguration day
Twitter will hand over the @POTUS account to President-elect Joe Biden when he’s confirmed on Inauguration Day, the organization told Politico. Twitter will move the record to Biden regardless of whether President Donald Trump hasn’t yielded — which he actually hasn’t done, notwithstanding the political decision broadly being called for Biden recently.
“Twitter is effectively getting ready to help the change of White House institutional Twitter accounts on January twentieth, 2021,” a Twitter representative said in an assertion to The Verge. “As we accomplished for the official progress in 2017, this cycle is being done in close meeting with the National Archives and Records Administration.”
Other official records, including @whitehouse, @VP, and @FLOTUS, will be moved over also, Politico reports.
