Soyeb Aftab 1st Year MBBS Student at AIIMS being accused of hurting Hindu sentiments

After a comedy performed by AIIMS students went popular on social media platforms for all the wrong reasons, garnering criticism, the students’ union of AIIMS issued an apology. According to news agency ANI, the students’ organization stated that the skit performance was not intended to harm anyone’s feelings and that the group will guarantee that no similar activity occurs in the future.

“A video clip of several AIIMS students doing a Ramleela skit has started spreading on social media. We apologise on behalf of the kids for the behaviour of this skit, which was not intended to harm anyone’s feelings. “We’ll make sure that this doesn’t happen again,” the statement said.

Shurpanakha was heard singing ‘tu cheez badi hai mast mast’ to Lakshman in a popular clip from the play, which placed a contemporary spin on the Ramayana. ‘Tu janta nahi mera bhai kaun hai (Do you know who my brother is?)’ says Lakshmana after cutting the contemporary Shupanaka’s nose. As seen in the videos circulating on social media, the speeches are followed by peals of laughter. Social media users blasted the modern interpretation of the Ramayana, claiming that in their attempt to be amusing, the students disrespected Hinduism. According to reports, the program was presented by first-year MBBS student Soyeb Aftab and an education app that has previously been chastised for a variety of reasons.

Many portions of the performance were identified as inappropriate by social media users, with many pointing to the show’s host’s Christian identity. ‘Many actors acting must be Hindus,’ one social media user commented, emphasizing that the show’s creators and actors were both equally culpable.

Unverified footage of Nitin Singhal, who is claimed to be one of the Ramleela performers, apologising for the performance is also making the rounds. He stated in the video that he will not justify the behaviour since everyone involved in the skit is embarrassed of their actions. He said that before the outcry on social media, they were rapped by AIIMS seniors. “AIIMS has been accused of being anti-Hindu, although this is not the case. Some physicians have filed complaints with the authorities against us. All Hindu holidays are observed by us. We observed Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Janmashtami. Here, Hindus make up the majority of the population. We are deeply embarrassed by our actions “he stated
