Twitter’s 5 million plus tweet impression requirement for qualifying Ad Revenue Share Program won’t be easy for most of the creators

Twitter’s new ad revenue share program for tweet replies is likely to launch in the upcoming days for verified users. Ahead of the launch of this program, its requirement has come out thus making it favorable for a high-profile user’s content or comment-triggering content. This program was announced by Musk last month through a Twitter post in which he wrote ”

In a few weeks, X/Twitter will start paying creators for ads served in their replies. The first block payment totals $5M.

Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count”.

Musk announced this to come in a few weeks a month ago which suggests it’s near launch. Ahead of its launch T(w)itter Daily News named Twitter account has shared a screenshot that shows the entry requirements for tweet monetization.

The requirements might change as this information has not yet gone live but as of now it will be

  • An active subscription to Twitter Blue/Verification for Organizations
  • Five million or more Tweet impressions in each month for the last three months

Five million tweet impressions are quite high to achieve thus giving an advantage to top creators. Twitter might be focusing on top creators initially to motivate creators to aim for higher engagement. It won’t be wrong to say that small creators would be frustrated by this threshold which might come down as Twitter reaches profitability from this program.

This can be a motivating factor for users to post such content that sparks more responses from other users and ensures that users are likely to share divisive content on Twitter. Negative and fearful content has always been an epicenter of focus which can increase as well.
