WhatsApp has started rolling out new “edit” feature which will let users edit sent message

One of the most awaited features that WhatsApp users were eagerly waiting for seems to have arrived but with a catch. It’s about the ability to edit sent messages. In case you observe any error in a sent message or want to make any change in the sent message this new feature will let you do that.

“For the moments when you make a mistake or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages on WhatsApp,” the Meta Platforms Inc-owned messaging app said in a blog post on Monday.

Users have started getting this update globally and will soon be rolled out for everyone. While using this interesting feature you will require to long press on a sent message and choose “Edit” from the menu. A sent message can only be edited upto 15 minutes after sending.

As we mentioned above, this feature comes with a catch so it’s time to know about it. When you edit a message, it appears with the “edited” tag which makes the receiver aware that the message has been edited without showing the edit history. The message, media, and edits you make on WhatsApp are protected by end-to-end encryption thus keeping the chat safe and secure.
