WhatsApp new Keeps the chat feature let’s user save disappearing message but with sender’s consent

Last year Whatsapp brought the Disappearing Messages feature and this time it has brought some of the significant features into this. On one side where the disappearing message feature automatically deletes the chats after a decided time, on the other side its new keep in Chat feature keeps the chat even after the message has disappeared. Suppose if you received some important audio, video, or information you can keep it by just pressing long on the message or file and then saving it.

In case the sender doesn’t want the message or file to be saved by the receiver the sender can deny it and it will automatically disappear after a decided time.

“Today we’re introducing ‘Keep in Chat,’ so you can hang on to texts you need for later, with a special superpower for the sender. We believe if you’ve sent the message, it’s your choice whether others in the chat can keep it for later,” the company said

The sender will receive the notification as soon as someone keeps a message.

“Anyone in a disappearing message thread can long press on a message to keep it. The sender will be notified if it was saved and can decide if it stays or remains a disappearing message,” Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive officer, of Meta, which owns Whatsapp, said on his Instagram channel

Messages which have been saved will appear with a bookmark icon in the Kept Messages folder.
