What made Sanjay Bhargava quit Starlink, even after Elon Musk praised him a lot
In November, Elon Musk praised Starlink India Director Sanjay Bhargava for undertaking a project to bring high-speed Internet access to rural areas. Previously, Bhargava worked with Musk on the electronic payment firm. In the past year, he has been in charge of SpaceX’s satellite broadband operations in India. Starlink provides internet access on the ground via a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit operated by SpaceX. The company plans to launch its services in India very soon.
Musk applauded Bhargava after a report on how SpaceX plans to bring Starlink Internet to rural India.
In a video presentation, Bhargava and wife Anita Kapur Bhargava outlined SpaceX’s plans to roll out Starlink broadband service in rural India this year. For free, SpaceX will provide 100 Starlink hardware kits – 20 to Delhi schools and 80 to a rural district near Delhi. It will then work with NITI Aayog to establish Internet service in 12 rural districts from each of the four regions – the North, South, East, and West. A minimum of 200,000 Starlink devices will be in operation by 2022, with 160,000 (80 percent) of those in rural areas. Anita Bhargava said she is helping Starlink on a pro bono basis. There is a vast majority of rural India that does not have Internet access, so SpaceX may find it a lucrative market for broadband services.
Know why he resigned even after taking responsibility of such big project.
