Alt News co – founder Mohammed Zubair arrested by Delhi police, the reason for the arrest is hurting religious sentiments and promoting enmity. Zubair was called in Delhi for questioning in a different case but arrested after this case was filed at the spot.
Mohammed Zubair is a Digital News author and is the co – founder of well known Fact – Checker news digital website ALT News in India.
Mohammed Zubair was arrested on charges of IPC 153/295 IPC. Before his arrest, Twitter received a request from the Union government claiming that Zubair’s account violated Indian laws.
During the course of investigation today, Mohammed Zubair joined the investigation and after having sufficient evidence on record, he was arrested. He is being produced before the duty magistrate for seeking further PC remand, said a report by ANI news.
The post of Mohammed Zubair containing picture & words against a particular religious community are highly provocative & done deliberately which are more than sufficient to incite hatred among people which can be detrimental for maintenance of public tranquility: Delhi Police.
On the basis of the above post, case has been registered: Delhi police senior officials. He was evasive on the questions and neither provided the necessary technical equipment for the purpose of the investigation nor cooperated in the investigation, the senior Police official added
