WWE Championship Day 1 Updates
During WWE’s first pay-per-view (PPV) of 2022, which was held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship in a Fatal 5-Way Match. The title of the event referred to its New Year’s scheduling, and it is the first PPV WWE has held with a New Year’s theme since New Year’s Revolution in 2007.
Roman Reigns revealed that he would no longer be defending the Universal Title after he tested positive for Covid-19 before the main event began, so Lesnar was added to the match.
The Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch dethroned Liv Morgan, Edge defeated The Miz with the help of his returning wife Beth Phoenix, Raw Tag Team Champion RK-Bro escaped the Street Profits, and the SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos defeated The New Day.
